HONK transactions are not linked to parking meters/machines that are found on streets or in parking lots. While both payments are typically accepted, they are not connected in anyway. A payment at the machine yields a physical receipt and if not, you need to contact the lot operator.
HONK has no access to meter/machine payments.
The meters/machines are also not connected to HONK transactions. If you pay through HONK, the on street meters/machines will still show as expired.
Enforcement officers also have a real-time app that they check to confirm valid (paid) parking sessions through HONK.
