If you're driving a rental or a second vehicle today, you can easily swap the active license plate on your permit. Just remember: enforcement is based on the plate currently attached to your session, so it’s important to switch it back when you return to your primary vehicle!
1. Add the New Plate to Your Profile Before you can attach a new vehicle to an active permit, it must be saved to your HONK account.
Go to the Menu (☰) > Vehicles and add the new plate info.
2. Update Your Active Session Once the plate is in your account, follow these steps to link it to your permit:
Tap the Menu (☰) in the top left corner.
Select the 'Parking Sessions' tab.
Tap on the Active Permit or session you need to adjust.
Tap the 'Change Vehicle' button.
Choose your new plate from the list (or select 'Register Vehicle' if you haven't added it yet).
Confirm the Change: Make sure the screen updates to show your new plate is now the "Active" vehicle.
Important Reminders
Switching Back: The system allows 1 switch every 10 hours! When you return to your primary vehicle, repeat these steps to ensure you stay valid.
One Plate at a Time: Most permits only allow one vehicle to be active at a time. If you have two cars parked in the lot simultaneously, they both need their own separate valid sessions.
Mighty Tip: Did you forget to swap the plate and already left the car? No problem! You can make this change from anywhere—the gym, the office, or your couch—as long as the session is still active.
